Hatice Nur Eken, MD

I completed my undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science at Yale University and earned my medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. I trained in psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh's Western Psychiatric Hospital, where my clinical work spanned psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and care for patients facing complex mood, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, trauma-related, and interpersonal difficulties.

I am in private practice in New York City, where I work with adults through medication management, psychotherapy, and comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. I also practice as an outpatient psychiatrist at Massachusetts General Hospital and am an incoming faculty member at Harvard Medical School.

I am also a researcher by training, with experience in clinical trials and academic work focused on interventional psychiatry, OCD and related disorders, treatment-resistant depression, and cultural dimensions of psychiatric care. My work has appeared in journals including The Lancet Psychiatry, Molecular Psychiatry, Nature Mental Health, and JAMA Cardiology.

I have particular clinical and academic interests in OCD and related disorders, treatment-resistant depression, interventional psychiatry consultations, and the mental health of people working in demanding, high-ambiguity roles.

My work begins with a careful understanding of the person in front of me: what they are experiencing, what has shaped them, and what they hope will change.
